There's Always Opposition

Hello everyone!

This week was one of the harder ones, but the miracles that we saw were ones that I will remember for the rest of my life. I'll share a few of them...

Karla technically has a baptismal date for this Sunday, and she has been to church consistently for 2 months now. She expressed to us her concerns, and she has a few doubts. It is a pretty stressful time with her, but hopefully, we can right the ship tomorrow evening.

Last Sunday, this family of 3 walked into church. They are all members and are from Venezuela. Two months ago, they left Venezuela to travel to Columbia, then Nicaragua, then Guatemala, and all the way through Mexico. They got here 2 weeks ago, and the first thing they did was find the church. We went over on Sunday night, and they shared their testimonies with us on how Heavenly Father has blessed them and continually delivered. They left again for Orlando this morning.

I had an exchange with Elder Stewart yesterday. A year ago at this time, I was in my second transfer, and he was my zone leader. It was one of my favorite days of my mission. That morning we said some of the more inspiring prayers we have ever said. We felt guided to the very top corner of Fort Smith. I hadn't ever been there before, nor even seen it. The second door we knocked, this mom opened up. She is the mom of 6 kids, all over the age of 8. We started talking to her, and we briefly showed her a video. She broke down to us crying, and we felt prompted to ask her if it was her family in Mexico. She confirmed and said her family was struggling. They are looking for a Spanish church here. One of the coolest of my mission.

Late last night, it was around 7:30. Eight hours earlier, we drove through a neighborhood that caught our attention, but missionaries went through it just 3 months ago. We prayed that night about where to go and felt drawn back there. We knocked 3/4 of it and got absolutely nothing. As we were finishing up and talking to this guy on his doorstep, we heard a huge 'POP.' As we turned around, this car comes rolling to a stop directly in front of the house we are at. The tire blew out, and they were forced to stop directly where we were standing. They asked us about church and promised us they would be there. We got their phone number, only to find out that we already had it in our phone. It was one of the most inspiring moments of my mission.

In all of these stories, God led us, and he led others. He always leads us and gave us the perfect example of who we need to follow to be able to return to his presence. Always follow Christ, and good things happen.

Love you all,
Elder Smythe
