We Out Here
What up!! Crazy how fast time flies out here I am loving it so much. The people here are amazing and the missionaries here are so fun. Work is going good we found 9 new friends here in the last 10 days and they only found 3 last transfer so miracles are definitely happening.
Last Monday was way fun and we were playing district bball and my team went down big early so I pulled out my best Paul George impression and carried us back:). We then had a really cool lesson with this lady who has a son in jail and I think she thought we could help but we told her we couldn't help legally, but we could give a message of peace. She welcomed us in and now we have another lesson tonight!
On Tuesday our branch mission leader, Brayan, called us basically begging for our help and we felt bad so we told him we could help him with his service. Well we got to this house and climbed in a truck with this bonafide redneck dude and it was a decent drive and he just talked about all his hunting it was awesome. We got to this house though....felt like I was watching "Hoarders" but in real life. It was gross. We set up all their new furniture because they weren't able to help us. Well after sitting there while the family was swearing all day the mom pulled me outside and asked me a ton of questions. Basically it was the hardest discussion I have given but it went well and I gave her a Book of Mormon with tears in her eyes and that was super spiritual.
Wednesday did service in a spider infested shed so that was awesome.
Thursday I got faded up (haircut) for the first time out here. Luckily someone in our stake owns a barber shop so we get it for free and that was so sick. His shop was just like at home so that was a little tender mercy. Nothin like getting a haircut in the south. After this we went back and finished lifting that massive shed. We taught our friend Leo too:)
Friday morning wasn't our brightest moment. We have been pretty sick all week and so we got woken up to our zone leaders saying "be there in 5".... Regardless, my companion had training down in Bentonville with one of our ZLs and so I got to go with the other one all day which was so fun. Elder Daw is from Riverton and he served in Bentonville before his current area so it was basically a tour down memory lane at his members and investigators houses it was so awesome. Such a crazy good missionary. Also ran into Elder Boyle so that was a crazy cool moment to see someone out here from home love my man.
GARTH BROOKS WAS HERE too which was crazy and annoying because his freaking traffic added an extra hour to our drive which sucked. We taught our English class and invited our friends to watch conference with us and they said yes ayo! Friday night at like 9 Brayan calls us and is like "yo I need you guys" so we go to his house and find his white passenger van and take the battery out and then we drove it to Chick-Fil-A to meet up. Man goes "another half mile let's go." We start walking and then next thing we know were walking down the exit of the freeway going the wrong way. His van died right there. So funny.
Saturdays out here are my favorite. We got to play soccer again and I officially moved to 3-0 in sports since being out here. My love for these people is unlike anything I have felt. I'm constantly laughing and smiling. The spanish commentary to our game had me dead. Watching conference on the mission hits so different. I was so dumb not to go when I was home. Elder Hugo Montoya's talk stuck out to me a lot because I had the opportunity to hear from and meet him while I was in Mexico. We are at a members house and then we went and picked up our 5 friends from El Salvador who have been really interested and they came to the church for a church tour and to watch conference! They were so engaged and it was so awesome. They said they absolutely loved it.
Sunday's sessions were so spiritual. The love that Christ has for us is so overwhelming. It's amazing. We watched with our branch (who, by the way, are the most amazing people ever I love them so much) at the church so it was a little hard to understand the morning session but I just rewatched it later:). All of the apostles, and everyone who spoke for that matter, speak with such power. I loved Elder Holland's talk as always, and Elder Olsen's. "You Belong." That phrase really stuck out to me. We ate dinner tonight with another member named Hermano Wachob and his house was legit 85 degrees it was so hot but man did pancakes taste good for the first time in a long time.
My spiritual thought for the week is a theme I have been having replayed in my mind, and then reiterated in conference today. The love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for us, and the importance of the Book of Mormon. I know its true. Study and pray about it.
Another one I have been focusing on is 3 Nephi 13:34: "Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient is the day unto the evil thereof" Focus on the moment.
I love and miss all of you guys so much. Sorry for how long this is...Text me!
