Gunshots And Sirens In Weeks 3 And 4 Baby

What up!!!

Finally I have my first P day at the Mexico MTC. It felt like forever with class all the time and little breaks, but I have been loving it so much. My district has the most amazing 12 people and I would do anything for any one of them.

Saying bye to the family was hard, and it definitely sucked, but having all of the people here that I know has made the transition so easy. I knew that there were going to be some missionaries on my plane, but there turned out to be over 150. It was such a powerful and spiritual experience to see all of these missionaries willing to join God's army and serve. We all played poker on the little TV screens and it got heated so it made things fun.

The first night here they kind of tricked us and fed us Costco pizza and made us think the food would be good....it is actually awful. I stash up on any frosted flakes I see on the rare occasion. Our entire house, and basically the whole MTC, was up late last night sick because of the "fajitas" that were for dinner. Luckily my wonderful mom shipped me peanut butter which has been my biggest blessing.

My teachers are the funniest and most adorable little hispanic guys, and the love they show for us each day is so special. One of them has an obsession with Nerds so we all brought him over a hundred dollars in Gummy Clusters. It brought him to tears. It was amazing.

Spanish is kind of impossible. But it's coming along. I find myself saying things that I have no idea what they are but half the time I guess it sounds right because my teachers tell me I did good. I know that the Lord is watching over me and the Gift of Tongues in my life so far has been so real.

Today we had the opportunity to go to the Mexico City Temple. It was such an amazing experience. For those of you who really know me, know how much I love the temple. It was so spiritual, even though it was all in spanish so I hardly understood a thing:). It is crazy to me that in a city where I fall asleep to gunshots and police sirens every night, there is a sanctuary of an MTC and a Temple here. The Lord will always prevail.

I know that college football starts tomorrow and I am pretty sad I have to miss that but go cougs and go Michigan. Hopefully my Mission President in Arkansas likes me enough next fall to let me watch BYU go play:). In reality though, there isn't anything I would rather be doing than serving. I know this is crazy long hahaha but so much has happened. The church is so true. The spirit here and the light of Christ are so evident in my life and I couldn't be more grateful.

Spiritual thought for the week is from Helaman 12:5 "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

Reach out to me! I would love to hear from you guys!!
